Antique Longcase Clocks
The longcase is the classic English clock. They are prized by collectors for the beauty of their cases and the quality, durability and reliability of their movements. Early examples of longcase clocks were made by such famous clockmakers as the Fromanteels, Edward East, Thomas Tompion, Joseph Knibb and Daniel Quare.
Bracket & Table Clocks
Bracket or table clocks are spring-driven clocks with a short pendulum designed to stand on a flat surface such as a table or wall bracket. Bracket clocks were first developed from circa 1660 – roughly from the same early period as the first longcase clocks.
Lantern Clocks
Lantern clocks derive their name either from the Dutch word ‘latten’ for brass or from their similarity in appearance to early domestic lamps or ‘lanterns’. The first short duration weight-driven lantern clocks made by English clockmakers date from the early 1600s and continued in some form until the late 1700s.
Carriage Clocks
Carriage clocks are small, spring-driven clocks that can be carried easily, hence their name. Carriage clocks vary from simple timepieces to complicated clocks with grande-sonnerie striking and chiming. The vast majority were produced by French makers in the last quarter of the 19th century.
Antique Mantel Clocks
A mantel clock is a general term to describe small timepieces which can fit on a shallow mantelpiece. The first examples were made in the early 19th century and come in a wide variety of case designs, materials and movement type.

Tavern Clocks
Tavern clocks are impressive wall hanging timepieces which were made for taverns, coaching inns and large domestic settings from the 1730s until circa 1780.
