A fine English Regency period library timepiece, the gilt engine turned dial with Roman hour numerals and original blued steel hands which have heart shaped pierced tips. The high quality single fusée movement runs for eight days.
The fire gilt drumhead top sits on its original black marble base which has an applied gilt metal wreath with fruits, foliage and a male mask along its front edge. The case stands on four original engine-turned gilt brass feet.
Grimalde & Johnson are recorded as makers of great repute working in London in the first quarter of the 19th century and their work was always of the highest quality.
