Antique Tavern Clocks
Tavern clocks are impressive wall hanging timepieces which were made for taverns, coaching inns and large domestic settings from the 1730s until circa 1780. Tavern clocks elegant cases were highly decorated with gilt chinoiserie lacquer work until they were superseded by mahogany veneered examples which were made mostly in and around London from 1780 until circa 1820.
