A very elegant pair of figured walnut veneered single chairs with vase shaped splats and curvaceous upright supports. The cabriole shaped front legs have well carved acanthus leaf knees and they terminate on ball and claw feet. The fruit, flower and foliate needlework seats in varying shades of red, Burgundy blue and beige are probably of late 18th century French origin.
