A fine George II period London figured walnut longcase clock with 8-day brass dial movement which strikes the hours on a single bell.

The finely matted brass dial has urn and foliate gilt corner spandrels and strike/silent indication in the arch. There is a subsidiary seconds dial, inset datework and the maker's signature is on a raised cartouche above six o'clock.

The elegant, well-proportioned arch top case has fine crossgrain mouldings and wonderfully figured burr walnut veneers throughout.

*Thomas Milner was a member of the Clockmakers’ Company in London between 1739 and his death in 1763. He was succeeded in the business by his son of the same name who was active until 1772.
