The bronze rectangular plinth is mounted with a satyr’s head at the centre and oak leaf, acorn and flower garlands mounted at each side: to the right and left of the clock is a seated classical bronze female figure in flowing robes each reading a gilt book. The 3 ½-inch engine turned matted gilt brass dial has blued spade tipped hands and Arabic numerals.
