A good William IV period ebonised mantel clock of rare small size, the 8-day movement with hour strike on a bell.

The 4 by 6 inch arched painted dial retains its original craquelure surface and the maker’s signature is set in an oval cartouche at the bottom below the chapter ring. The latter has Roman numerals and retains its original blued steel spade tipped hands.

The elegant diminutive ebonised case has a stepped chamfered top, chamfered corners and stands on four turned brass bun feet.

The substantial high quality plated movement fills the whole case. It is signed by the maker Dwerrihouse Ogston & Bell on the backplate.
