A fine early George II period walnut bureau veneered of rare small size.
The interior has a central opening door flanked by a pull-out vertical pocket and three pigeonholes to either side set above two opening drawers.
The top, fall and drawer fronts are veneered in well-figured and patinated book-matched walnut with herringbone inlays and walnut crossbanding. The drawers are lined in oak, joined with very fine dovetails and they are all cockbeaded. The brass plate escutcheons and handles are sympathetic old replacements. It stands on its four original walnut veneered bracket feet.
This elegant piece of case furniture is in pristine condition and quite rare given its diminutive proportions.
