Additional information

Origin

Date

A fine Victorian period English timepiece contained in a well-proportioned four-glass rosewood case of excellent colour and figure.

The silvered dial has Roman hour numerals and a double concentric circle for the minutes. It is signed by the maker on the silvered brass dial.

The substantial single fusee timepiece movement has its original anchor escapement with adjustable brass pendulum bob.

Date: circa 1845-1855

Height: 10 ½ in (26.5 cm)

*The maker was probably James King who succeeded his father Thomas. He was working in London in the middle years of the 19th century. Small fusee library timepieces in understated elegant rosewood cases are becoming increasingly rare and therefore hard to find.
